Isolation valves

Many different types of valves can be classified as isolation valves. This valve style can also be sub-categorized into two categories upon the stem operating movement are linear and rotary.

  • Ball valves: Ball valves are also designed to be operated fully open or fully closed with any liquid containing particles that could scratch the ball. Opening or closing a ball valve too quickly can cause fluid hammer.
  • Butterfly valves: Butterfly valves are like ball valve with the most simple yet versatile valves. They are quarter turn operated valves which are commonly used in multiple industries for varied applications.
  • Globe valves: Globe valve is a type of linear motion valves and is typically used in both on-off and throttling applications. In globe valves, the flow of the fluid through valve follows an S-path.
  • Gate valves: Gate valve is a sliding type of valve. They are designed to operate fully open or fully closed. In partially open conditions, due to vibrations, valve is exposed to quick wear and tear.
